Peter Brighouse, Author and Illustrator of Louisa's Ginger Nuts Series

Open Garden Sunday - 29th June 2014

11am to 5pm. Simple light refreshments. No entry fee, just your usual generous donations, all for Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre at the University of Nottingham (Peter (Zoology) and Mark's (Architecture) old University). Lots of container plants to be taken in exchange for donations.

3, Victoria Grove, Fallowfield, Manchester, M14 6BF, UK - plenty of on-street parking down our cul-de-sac.

We omitted this event last year, but have now completed substantial redesign elements towards the bottom half of the garden. The summerhouse, Louisa's Blue Pussy Cat Cafe (Facebook location) is now cedar shingle clad, which has sorted out the leaking roof issues. The greenhouse has been moved to Mossley for Roz's horticultural brother to make better use of, propagating and raising choice plants. The garden rear fence shelving sheds have been renovated and the garden tools are held in "Parson Hawker's Tool Shed" (follow the link to see the derivation). Four new raised brick-edged beds have been constructed and many new plants introduced. The complete compost bin-set has been moved and redesigned. All of this has provided extra walking round paths and seating areas. Some of our artistic friends are talking of visiting to sketch.

After the enjoyment of Peter's Art Exhibition, early March 2014 in the Didsbury Parsonage Gardens Gallery, there will be a one day Exhibition coinciding with the Open Garden. Original art-works based upon the cat book illustrations and cartoon series will be shown in the hallway and inside the summerhouse. The Pop-Up Cat Shop, a la Altrincham Market 4th Sundays, will be available on the morning room table. 20% of all sales will be for the CBTRc.

Do please come along and bring your friends and your wallets!
